Database Administrator recruitment

Responsibilities

• Design and implementation of enterprise database architectures on MSSQL technologies

• Install, configure, manage and maintain multiple MS SQL and Oracle databases

• Manage Memory, CPU and I/O performance as well as assure database health

• Perform appropriate back up, restoration and upgrades of ours servers (including DR)

• Perform replication, clustering, performance tuning and optimization (query optimization, index tuning, caching and buffer tuning), Online Transaction Processing (OLTP), Data Warehousing, Online Analytical Processing (OLAP), High Availability, Load Balancing, patching of databases and applications

• Control operational procedures and support (including data modelling, replication, administration, maintenance, performance monitoring/optimization, SQL Tuning, capacity planning, space management and recovery)

• Evaluate specifications and requirements against available solutions

• Ensure system integrity and efficiency

• Recommend modifications for third party software products and act as a liaison to software vendors to meet user needs

• Ensure High Availability of the database systems: SQL Server backup Recovery, clustering, replication, database-mirroring and Log shipping. Knowledge on Oracle Data Guard and Oracle RAC would be a plus

• Ensure Recoverability of MSSQL databases: production and non-production. Maintain high standards of backup/recovery, conduct recovery tests

• Ensure best performance of the critical databases through efficient maintenance and performance tuning

• Write technical documentation

• Support and implement database changes, ensure quality of the changes

Educational Requirements

Knowledge Skill 

• MS SQL Server 2000 / 2005 / 2008 R2

• Oracle Database 10g / 11g

• Windows and Unix/Linux operating system - Unix OS: Solaris and Linux: commands, tools and utilities, scripting skills

• Database Security

• Database Networking

• OLTP (Online Transaction Processing) and DSS (Decision Support Systems), Data Warehousing, OLAP and ETL skills as well

• Experience on HA solution, including VERITAS Cluster / RAC / Windows Cluster

• Certified DBA a plus

• Ability to identify hardware/software interface problems to database

• Ability to use applications software, data structures, utilities, operating systems, and communication interfaces within the existing computing environment.

• Ability to perform systems and applications needs analysis on database

• Ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing.

• Financial experience would be a plus

• Knowledge of system/equipment capability, design restrictions, and security requirements.

• Strong problem solving and troubleshooting skills

• Anticipate/forecast critical points and make adjustments to deliver to commitments
