Job Description:
General Summary:
The Bioinformatics Analyst and Programmer will provide programming and analytical support including operating, supporting, maintaining, developing, integrating, and deploying bioinformatics tools and databases that support surveillance technology . The analyst will be responsible for replicating and further developing an existing relational database infrastructure, including algorithmic components.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
- Provide support in operating, maintaining, developing, integrating, and deploying bioinformatics tools and databases.
- Replicate and further develop relational database infrastructure to meet design guidelines. Develop software packages to implement relational database on mobile devices. Assist in identifying hardware and software requirements for local and regional implementation relational database.
- D evelop, use, and implement a wide range of artificial intelligence approaches.
- Wr i te programs; perform software development; develop and implement web technologies, web application, and RDBMS/Databases.
- Rapid prototyping and evaluation of experimental systems, including hardware, software, and algorithms.
- Create required and necessary documentation of both hardware and software programs which will assist in replication, as well as user manual. Contribute to various relevant sections of research manuscripts.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
- MS or PhD degree in bioinformatics, computer science or a related field with recent leading-edge research experience on high-end computing systems required. 1 to 2 years of programming experience in developing, using, and implementing a wide-range of artificial intelligence systems.
- Familiarity with Emergency Medicine and Public Health is desirable.
- Medical terminology a plus.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Attention to detail and ability to handle multiple sub-projects required. Must be able to prioritize workload and be self-directed.
Knowledge and experience in:
- Programming languages (e.g., C#, JAVA, Visual Studio 2005/2008)
- RDBMS/Databases (e.g., SQL Server and MYSQL) o Software Development (e.g., UML)
- Web technologies (e.g., ASP.NET, JavaScript, HTML, XML); Web application (e.g., Apache IIS)
- Mobile Applications
- Message passing for HL7
- Artificial intelligence systems, e.g., decision trees, decision rules, support vector machines, neural network, Bayesian networks, ensemble, and fuzzy logic
