Delivery Driver

Title: Delivery Driver Location: MD-Baltimore-Severn Perform all pre-trip responsibilities including: checking route numbers and account numbers for assigned deliveries, counting items and checking customer invoices of products that have been loaded, moving tractors to the loading dock to attach the preloaded trailers, completing required trailer temperature checks and performing "pre-trip safety check" inspections of trucks and trailers according to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Drive to and deliver customer orders according to the routing schedule. Unload products from the trailer with a hand truck or by hand or pallet jack and place items in designated customer storage areas. Verify delivery of correct items with customer and obtain proper signatures. Collect money (cash or checks) where required. Contact division management for authorization of invoice discrepancies and communicate all errors and returns. Perform all post-trip responsibilities: unloading damaged goods and customer returns and completing necessary paperwork; performing safety checks on the vehicle, unhooking and securing the trailer; fueling; parking and securing the tractor and hand truck; completing Department of Transportation (DOT) logs (electronic or manual as required) and company vehicle maintenance reports and reconciling these with the appropriate company representative as required. Attend all required driver meetings. Education/Training : High School Diploma/GED preferred, however, must be able to read, write and communicate in English as it relates to the job and to the safety regulations. Must have basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, divide). Must have a valid Commercial Drivers License (CDL), class A issued by the state of legal residence. Must meet the medical requirements of the Department of Transportation (DOT). Must be willing to work flexible hours. Related Experience/Requirements : Minimum 1 year over the road commercial driving experience or six months with a beverage delivery company or as a foodservice delivery representative required. Must not have more than two convictions in the past two year period for moving traffic violations; not have a DUI conviction in the past three years (regardless of type of vehicle operated); not have driver's license suspended for traffic violations with the past three years. Must be at least 21 years of age. Knowledge/Skills/Abilities : Must be able to use, or learn to use, all equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) i.e. XATA, and tools used to perform the job. Must have the ability to learn MSDS information regarding all material used within the scope of the work. Must be able to perform coupling procedures (drop and hook). Must possess superior customer service skills.
