About Morgan Stanley’s Derivatives Project Group:
The Derivatives Project Group (DPG) is the operations-based project management and business analysis team responsible for driving and delivering change across the global Morgan Stanley derivatives business. DPG is a 70+ strong team across London, New York and Hong Kong, and is accountable to the Global Head of Derivatives Operations.
DPG consists of three global business-aligned teams supporting Equity Swaps, Equity Derivatives and Fixed Income Derivatives trade capture, and two cross asset-class functional teams supporting confirmation and settlement.

The Derivatives Academy is a structured training programme externally accredited by the Chartered Institute of Securities Investment (CISI) designed to provide in-depth knowledge and skills in all areas of Operations that support derivatives products. The programme includes classes, e-learning, examinations and presentations to senior management. Role Summary:
This new role is to define and lead a multi-year strategic derivatives settlements programme, managing a team of project managers and business analysts to deliver against this transformation strategy. This role will have a global focus, partnering with IT, Finance and Operations across Europe, the Americas and Asia. Primary responsibilities will include:
• Define a multi-year strategy to move all derivatives settlement processing onto Morgan Stanley’s in-house strategic settlements platform, migrate all existing positions and decommission legacy systems and processes.
• Work with senior stakeholders globally to ensure that target-state business processes are consistent globally wherever possible, but mandated regional variations are taken into account.
• Structure business cases, plans, resourcing requirements and financial tracking as well as implementing a governance model with global stakeholders and senior management to track and publish progress.
• Lead and develop the careers of DPG team members formally reporting into this role. Manage and influence indirect team members in IT, Operations and other project groups.
• Actively contribute to the extended global DPG leadership team and more broadly across Derivative Operations.
The successful candidate will have experience in managing large scale projects with practical knowledge of defining business cases, gathering requirements, resource planning, implementation and milestone tracking, test planning and other project management skill sets. A proven track record of managing global teams is preferred.
The core skills/experience are:
• Strong understanding of derivative products (Credit, Rates, Equity)
• Knowledge of the core operational processing for derivatives; ideally settlements
• Extensive project/programme management experience. Will have managed project budgets $5mm
• Experience of defining strategies, starting projects and managing senior stakeholders at ED and MD level
• Strong delivery record coupled to good problem solving skills and analytical mindset
