Design Engineer Job in Atlanta, Georgia US
Manufacturer of complex assemblies seeks a Design Engineer to support with the design and development of new projects. This ISO 9001 operation designs and manufactures high quality components for a variety of markets, including transportation, aerospace and general industrial application. The Design Engineer will design components and simple assemblies as assigned, and follow the projects from initial customer drawings through to manufacture. Typical responsibilities include:
- Design, fabricate, test and evaluate various parts and assemblies that conform to customer requirements.
- As appropriate, develop multiple design options with identification of cost/performance trade-offs.
- Recommend material selection.
- Interface with multi-disciplinary team in the development of the design package.
- Ensure design proposals meet Quality, time and budget requirements for both internal and external customers.
- Prepare technical data to be included in the project proposal.
- Participate in proposal presentations and project design review meetings.
- Evaluate designs for ease of manufacturability, make recommendations for modifications, and support Production in resolving manufacturing issues.
- Develop and submit all required reports and technical documentation.
This position reports to the Engineering Manager.
Compensation is commensurate with experience.

To be considered for this position, you must meet the following qualifications:
- Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Associate Degree in Engineering Technology with related appropriate experience may be considered.
- 2 Years minimum experience in the design of components and assemblies in a manufacturing setting.
- CATIA V5 or AutoCAD Microstation capable.
- Experience with ISO 9001 Quality system is a plus.
- Ability to work independently on design projects, then interface effectively with multidisciplinary team to achieve program goals.
- Ability to interface effectively with customers in both formal settings (proposal presentations, status meetings), as well in informal contact (phone calls).
- Ability to generate all technical documentation and reports as necessary for successful project completion.
- Ability to work rapidly toward successful completion of projects that meet both company and customer Quality/performance/manufacturability/cost requirements.
- Ability to clearly communicate at all levels within the organization, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to manage, prioritize and successfully complete multiple, complex projects in a fast-paced atmosphere.
