The Role:
Bloomberg is looking for a qualified application developer with a solid understanding of the financial markets to join our growing Desktop Build Group in New York. The Desktop Build Group is a resource that works closely with Bloomberg Sales and Product departments. The aim of the team is to increase our clients dependency on our product by creating desktop solutions, mainly spreadsheet applications, which use our Excel Add-In. Projects include assisting customers in the migration of their worksheets from a competitor linked product to Bloomberg data, and building sophisticated models that fill a product gap.

Responsibilities:
-Developing customized solutions for Bloomberg clients and prospects.
-Directly impacting sales through developed applications and direct customer interaction.
-Building broad reaching Excel-based solutions to be published in a global Template Library.
-Assisting the Bloomberg Sales Force in promoting our Excel Add-In and newly created templates.
-Liaising with the Bloomberg Product Development teams to document product gaps and drive product enhancements.

Requirements:
-Must have previously worked in a financial markets environment and have a good understanding of different asset classes. FX and/or Mortgages STRONGLY preferred
-Exceptional knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Visual Basic for Applications (VBA) is required.
-Knowledge of Microsoft Visual Studio .NET (C# or VB.NET) is a plus.
-Must be proactive, high energy, customer-orientated, and prepared to take ownership in a fast turnaround/development environment.
-Prior experience with use of the Bloomberg Terminal or similar products is a plus.
-Excellent verbal, presentation and written communication skills.
-Excellent command of English required.
-Some travel might be required.
