Developed/Emerging Market Foreign Exchange/Fixed Income Analyst
Our client is an independent investment research firm, specializing in providing top-down global multi-asset advice and ideas to investment managers around the world. They develop investment strategy and recommendations by identifying the key structural and cyclical themes driving the global economy and asset markets, utilizing rigorous and comprehensive proprietary forecasting models and indicators, while leveraging the extensive experience of their senior staff.
Job Description:
- Conduct research under the direction of Senior Strategists
- Country-level analysis of macro drivers of inflation, fiscal and monetary policy, consumption, investment and trade and financial sectors
- Coverage of EM FX markets, including maintenance/improvement of valuation, liquidity and technical indicators. Responsible for writing and defending our clients' view of currency performance relative to EM currency basket and principal global currencies
- Integrate market data from NDF, CDS, options, net specs etc, etc to supplement the overall view and add granularity to FX strategy calls
- Coverage of EM fixed income markets, including dollar and local currency-denominated instruments - initially this work will be focused on the most liquid EM bond markets, but will expand as needed.
- Responsible for writing and defending our client's view of relative EM bond market performance.
- Participate in research meetings and contribute ideas on important economic, policy or market events in the regions and/or markets assigned
- Write regular economic/financial market briefs
Job Requirements:
- 3-10 years experience of analyzing FX or fixed income markets in developed or emerging economies (although will consider candidates with a strong global equity experience as well)
- Analytic training in fixed income analysis, some working experience in EM bond markets preferred
- Strong macroeconomic background
- Proven ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Technically competent, including solid skills on Bloomberg, Excel and statistical packages (Eviews)
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills. Knowledge of Chinese or Slavic languages an advantage
- Proven ability to write to deadline for an investor audience
- Masters degree in economics or finance
