Job Description
At Rackspace, contributing to the open source community *is* your day job.
As a Developer Support Engineer for Rackspace, you will spend 20% of your time contributing back to the open source community of your choice. Writing code? Closing tickets? Fixing bugs? Yes, yes, and yes.
The other parts of your time will be spent helping people use the tools you create. You will spend time on IRC, answering questions and helping others build their infrastructure. We want you to create cool tools (many of these will be open source too), mentor Rackers and customers, and help our customers leverage our OpenStack-based cloud service. You will be a key part of our fanatical support for developers, contributing code, plugins, modules, knowledge, and extending projects everywhere to provide support for Rackspace's cloud and OpenStack generally.
We want a developer spending time doing what they love - coding Open Source projects, creating tools, helping and mentoring our customer and Rackspace developers. Austin or San Antonio acceptable. Willing to do remote for the right person.
