Development Manager

Role description

The Development Manager will play a key role in the delivery of the Islands economic development strategies. These include further diversification of the economy, developing the role of the private sector, ensuring the sustainability of the rural economy, improving infrastructure and enhancing the provision of capital.

The successful candidate will act as a Consultant to a range of SMEs operating in areas such as natural resources, retail and oil gas. You will use your banking or consulting background to help SMEs critically appraise projects and identify and attract the appropriate funding for new initiatives on the Islands. Your role will also involve developing national and international partnerships to share best practise and develop new markets.

The Development Manager in the Falklands will lead a small team of specialised Development Officers.

Who we're looking for

The Development Manager in the Falklands will meet the following criteria:

• Business degree or professional qualifications
• A track record of delivery in areas such as loan appraisals, project management and financial analysis; ideally gained through a banking or consulting background
• Recent experience of team management
• Knowledge of business valuation and strategic planning
• Ability to prepare concise briefings and presentations, and prepare clear analytical reports
• Ability to manage complex projects
• Ability to establish working relationships with a wide range of stakeholders
