ROLE: Development Manager (hands on technical)
LOCATION: Milton Keynes
SALARY: circa £45k - £50k + Bonus + Benefits

Main Duties

This role is primarily to ensure, enable and manage the implementation and on-going development of applications and systems.  The Development team will ultimately involve a variety of System Experts and in-house developer’s as well external consultants, contractors and development companies.   The role will work closely with Project Managers, functional user groups and the Operations IT Manager.
 

There may be multiple application development projects in progress at any one time.  Hence, the role will require the management of multiple projects and the management of various resources (internal and external) to complete the projects.

The role will also involve hands on experience of Business Analysis, high level design and actual development work.
The systems involved will vary covering Site specific applications (Security and BMS) as well as corporate applications (Service Desk, Sales, Finance, HR etc.).  The majority of the development works will be relating to the customisation and configuration of off-the-shelf applications, although there will also be smaller custom in-house applications.

Skills Experience

The role requirements both Application Development and implementation experience as well as team management skills.

Essential skills experience

•Management of a team of internal and external system designers and developers
•Working with external consultancies to deliver a customised implementation of a software system
•Application Development Life Cycle Management
•Application Development (Microsoft applications - .net, SQL Server etc.)
•IT Project Management Experience (ideally, in an installation environment)
•Business Analysis and requirements capture
•Project definition, implementation and full in-life management
•Management experience for a team of Contractors and Consultants

Desired skills experience

•Visual Basic applications
•Security and BMS applications
•Experience of Corporate applications such as BMC Remedy Service Desk, Sales Force, Finance and HR Systems
