Development Underwriter – Midlands £35k + car / allowance

 

Huntswood have engaged with one of the largest general insurers in the UK to identify an experienced Development Underwriter to join their rapidly growing team of professionals.

 

The role;

·              To proactively develop Commercial lines business through a network of agreed intermediaries within a pre-defined geographical area within agreed deadlines

·              To develop associated personal lines business

·              Business generated will be within the company strategy for targeted growth of Commercial lines business

 

Specific Responsibilities;

·              Agree a programme of commercial business development in consultation with the UK BDM and appropriate underwriting managers

·              Deliver agreed income targets at a combined operating ratio of less than 100% for each product line over the period of a cycle

·              Deliver agreed premium income targets from identified commercial lines intermediaries

·              Manage and develop all business in line with the company strategy

·              Manage and grown agreed commercial accounts by developing and facilitating a strong internal relationship management culture.

·              Implement Best Practice relationship management techniques, working with regional brokers and increasing their GWP

·              Develop and maintain a clear system of internal communication, particularly with the regional underwriting team

·              To gain, maintain and record a clear understanding of the strategy and goals of each target Regional Broker

·              To ensure that their customers are treated in accordance with the principles of treating customers fairly

 

Essential skills:

You will possess previous experience as a Commercial Lines Development Manager and be able to demonstrate a proven track record. You will also have a sound overall understanding of the general insurance market

 

Qualifications:

You will be educated to GCSE level and ideally CERT CII qualified
