Job Description Job Classification: Contract TEKsystems has a client who is in need of a VOD Engineer. All qualified individuals should meet the following criteria: Job Description: The VOD Engineer will offer escalation support for Technician I, II III's, who monitor the companies network infrastructure by using various surveillance equipment and tools. They will assist in post mortem analysis, capacity and utilization review of the VOD platform. They need an excellent understanding of core digital video and specifically the Motorola Scientific-Atlanta digital video networks as it relates to cable concepts such as HFC networks, RF concepts, IP networks, and digital video transport, headend equipment and digital set top boxes (DSTBs). Experience with Cisco routers and switches needed also. 1. Strong Scientific-Atlanta DNCS and/or Motorola DAC administration, configuration, and provisioning system skills 2. Working knowledge of digital cable network topologies 3. Working knowledge of Scientific-Atlanta and Motorola Set Top Boxes 4. Working knowledge of MPEG-2 and other digital video standards additional Training of lower techs to better understand Telnet, and Command Line Interface commands into, Routers, Switches, etc. They will be the SME for the diagnostic and Surveillance tools utilized, i.e. Spectrum, Pathtrak, TollGrade, CMEX, and VOD in general. VOD is very similar to VoIP in that you are pushing packets of information out over an IP. In this case it's Video instead of Voice.
