Director

The Enterprise Program Office (EPO) Director is responsible for assisting with the development of EPO Policies, the communication of those policies and providing coaching and mentoring to business stakeholders. The EPO Director works with program teams and PMOs throughout AIG to ensure that the Project/Program Lifecycle is understood and followed, including; ensuring appropriate budgeting for project/program work, coaching and mentoring teams through the Funding Gates and working directly with teams and Executive Sponsors to develop business cases. The EPO Director works with Program Management Offices (PMOs) and Program teams in preparation for the presentation of a business case to the Investment Decision Board (IDB). IDBs are the governing bodies that exist at the Corporate, Business Unit and/or Functional Level that own the project portfolio and review funding requests for approval and monitor benefit realization. After a project/program is approved, the EPO Director provides oversight and governance of the project/program portfolio for a Business Unit or Function throughout the Project/Program Lifecycle completing interim project reviews to ensure project/program success and benefit capture.
This specific role will strengthen the overall Corporate Governance team and bring particular focus to the maturity of the Corporate Investment Decision Board (IDB) by the development and deployment of robust project portfolio management processes such as benefits realization, project prioritization, and portfolio analysis for risk, value and strategic alignment.

Major Job responsibilities include:

* Work with the Business Unit and Functional PMO leaders to establish, update and communicate the EPO Policies, Operating Procedures and Practices globally to ensure that all Business and Functional Units understand the Project/Program Management Lifecycle and associated policies and procedures regarding project/program selection, funding approval, project/program management, implementation, benefits realization and closure. Work closely with the Business Unit and Functional PMOs, Internal Audit, Finance and other groups as required to ensure that policies and procedures are consistently communicated throughout the company.
* Facilitate the Corporate Investment Decisions Board's governance process which reviews project/program funding requests, review the status of the existing portfolio and make determinations about the alignment of the project/program portfolio to AIG/Business Unit strategy.
* Represent the EPO as an active member of Project/Program Steering Committees, Governance Committees, Finance and other Executive Steering Committees
* Remain current on business strategies and corporate policies as related to the business case process. Work collaboratively with all levels of management to drive adoption of the EPO policies and work towards establishing a complete project portfolio which will increase the visibility of the change agenda and enable improved budgeting, resource planning, cost estimation and benefit tracking. Effectively manage direct reports, cross train EPO staff and influence matrix staff.

SKILLS/EXPERIENCE REQUIRED: :

Qualifications/Experience

Ten or more years of business/industry work experience - preferably in the financial services industry, with at least 5 years of experience in a leadership/management role and 5 or more years experience in a Project/Program Management / PMO role.

Must possess extensive knowledge and expertise in the use of Project and Program Management methodologies and tools.

Project Management: Understands meets deadlines. Holds others accountable. Proactive identification and management of risk. Manages multiple work streams. Works effectively across multiple groups (both internal and external). Has experience managing scope and change control. Project Management certification preferred but not essential - PMI, Six Sigma, Prince 2, other.

Communication: Advanced written/oral communication and presentation skills. Communicates with business leadership, and vendor partners on program strategy, direction and changes. Responds to customers appropriately, timely, and accurately. Manages relationships effectively with professionalism and influencing where necessary.
