Director–Compliance for Commodity Derivatives recruitment

  1. Enhance, implement and maintain an effective regulatory compliance program over the CD activity, with particular focus on physical gas and electricity trading, as well as financially settled contracts of all commodities.
  2. Perform risk-based functions by:

    1. Working on the trading floor each day
    2. Researching regulatory compliance issues and rule changes
    3. Writing and having readily accessible, Compliance policies, procedures, manuals, results and actions that evidence implementation and effectiveness
    4. Providing extensive training and ad hoc advice to senior managers, sales, trading, and support areas
    5. Guiding capital markets surveillance, operations, supervisors, and IT teams on specific, though rapidly developing, surveillance and reporting requirements
    6. Responding to internal and external inquiries (regulators, auditors, etc.)
    7. Weekly reporting of projects and issues to senior Compliance and Business managers. This includes escalating regulatory compliance issues for notification and resolution.
  3. Manage Futures Compliance officer in related business

    1. Coordinate effective coverage of related businesses (physical power/gas, OTC contracts, and listed commodities contracts) in light of new CFTC rules related to Dodd-Frank and other regulatory reforms.
    2. Provide feedback and reviews to develop staff to full potential.
  4. Work with other Compliance team members within the FCMs, Broker-dealers, and Bank overall, in US and abroad.
  5. Participate in industry groups to represent Bank's interests, obtain market intelligence, and share best practices.

Skills

EXPERIENCE:  10+ years (combined) of Compliance or similar work in Financial Firm, Energy Company, FERC or similar regulator.

 

SKILLS:  Well-organized; ability to work independently and prioritize large amounts of work and projects; excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to work with a highly energized trading desk with senior business officers; flexible schedule to handle conference calls across multiple time zones (UK, Europe, Singapore)
