 Job Description  

This role will be primarily responsible for managing the Annual Net Investment Income PLAN process as well as leading the Federal Stress Balance Sheet and Income Statement generation process.  This includes partnering with various Lines of Business, Corporate,  Projections team within Finance as well as Portfolio Management Unit in Investments as well as the various asset sectors in Investments. The individual will require managing and coaching staff members and coworkers within the unit and other units.  The role also requires management of key strategic projects from initiation to execution and working closely with Investments and Finance through out the cycle.  The projects will require conceptual and innovative thinking, excellent communication skills and an ability to negotiate with stakeholders internally and externally.  The candidate must be able to present status and risk deliverables to senior management on an ad hoc basis.  The role also requires exceptional analytical skills in order to assist in attributing income, asset and yield variances and requires enhanced knowledge of Investments such as the various asset sectors and how they behave.  The individual will also be expected to assist in quarter-end reporting which is mainly to provide the CFO with analytics in preparation for quarter end meetings. 

Principal Responsibilities:

• Strategic role in annual Net Investment Income PLAN process, including but not limited to
o verification of key Net Investment Income inputs from various asset sectors
o interpretation, communication, and reporting of results - including development of new trend reporting package
o coordination of PLAN calendar
o coordination and verification of Portfolio Management Unit’s reinvestment and sales assumptions
o assist Projection team in reviewing exception reporting (neg assets / yields / bad data)

• Responsible for preparation and distribution of Fed’s Stress scenario balance sheet and income statement documentation. In addition, responsible for preparation and coordination of narrative, comparing stress versus base scenarios.  Also responsible for summary analyses for management review and Senior Management Committee meetings. Act as liaison between Investments and other finance departments to answer questions / troubleshoot issues.

• Strategic role in assisting Portfolio Management Unit’s with projects that require Finance input

• Provide Investments CFO reporting analytics in preparation for quarter end meetings with Investments CIO Planning Board, Finance Review Meetings, and Analyst call. Analytics include variance analyses comparing, and providing attributions for, change in NII, assets, and yield current quarter versus prior.

• Act as Investments finance representative ("hiring manager") for coordination of annual INROADS summer intern responsibilities, development opportunities, and documentation of performance progress.

Knowledge/Skills/Competencies Required:

• Five to Seven years of related work experience in the global insurance industry in addition to direct work experience within Finance and/or Investments

• At least three years experience with people management

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college/university

• Advanced degree and certifications such as MBA, CPA, CFA a plus and very highly preferred

• Strong knowledge of policy and process development and understanding of the global insurance industry

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
