Director Healthcare Economics
The purpose of the Director Healthcare Economics is to maximize and sustain business success through the disciplined use of facts, data, and statistical analyses that enable the Medical Informatics department to support, improve, and lead the re-engineering of critical business processes. This position leads highly effective teams in the collection and transformation of data into purposeful information. This information, once developed, will be used to identify strengths and opportunities throughout our organization in order to achieve and sustain a strategic advantage.
The Director Healthcare Economics primarily interacts with Clinical Services, Finance, Affordability teams, the Lines of Service, Actuary, and national leadership to ensure a high level of customer satisfaction and to lead efforts to improve the quality and affordability of healthcare. This position anticipates and integrates relevant business needs across all UHG segments and leads the alignment and integration of efforts across legacy and acquired entities. The focus of this position includes, but is not limited to, appropriate utilization, cost reduction, operational planning and improvement, quality improvement, market-share growth, and customer retention. This position influences decision making and program design at all levels within the organization through the logical and persuasive presentation of fact-based ideas and opinions. The Director will influence, lead, and direct the work of Associate Directors, Managers, Consultants and Analysts within the department.
It is strongly preferred that this position be located in our Cypress, CA office, however, for strong applicants Rockville, MD; Trumbull, CT; Bothell, WA or telecommuting will also be options.
Required:
- Bachelor's degree
- 8-10 years healthcare data analytics
- Industry experience programming with SAS
- Minimum 5 years supervisory or management experience
- Exceptional analytic and critical thinking skills, written and oral communication skills, and consulting skills.
- Ability to lead analyses and direct, motivate, and organize teams
- Proven ability to lead and work effectively with all levels of the organization, across various business functions and segments
Preferred:
- Master's or Ph.D. in a health care or statistics related field
- In depth understanding of some of the following: health care industry, health insurance, medical practice, population and disease management, health care data including medical coding and billing, health care administration, program evaluation methods and outcomes measurement, research design and / or advanced statistical methods
