As Director Internal Medicine Program Chair, imagine yourself * Providing clinical oversight and administration of the internal medicine clinical and education programs, and for the medical student teaching programs. Develops relationships within Aurora and with leadership at outside medical schools and community organizations. * Implementing and maintaining a high quality and innovative educational program that meets and exceeds the program requirements for residency and fellowship education in internal medicine as written and approved by the individual specialty boards and the Accreditation Council for Graduate Medical Education (ACGME). Develops and implements a primary care track and develops other specific career tracks within the residency program. * Maintaining continuing full program accreditation, including the requirements as an ACGME Educational Innovation Project program. Works under the direction of the designated institutional official (DIO) to ensure the programs compliance with accreditation expectations, and to obtain necessary support and resource allocation for the program. * Managing, administering, and participating in the clinical and non-clinical budgets for Internal Medicine including, but not limited to oversight, tracking, and any needed modification of the clinical resource value unit (RVU) and educational resource value unit (eRVU) systems. * Performing human resources responsibilities for staff which include interviewing and selection of new employees, promotions, staff development, performance evaluations, pay adjustments, resolution of employee concerns, disciplinary counseling, terminations, and employee morale. Participates in the selection and recruitment of teaching, clinical, and other program staff. * Working collaboratively with leadership to ensure efficient, safe operations that meet or surpass organizational benchmarks for quality, patient loyalty, employee engagement, and financial performance. * Actively participating as a member of designated committees and work groups. Serves as an active mentor for Internal Medicine faculty, fellows, residents and medical students, and serves as a role model for patient care, scholarship, leadership, and life balance. * Being responsible for the development and implementation of the long-term strategic direction of Aurora UW Medical Group internal medicine, including market development and business initiatives, ensuring consistency with the overall needs and direction of Aurora Health Care. * Functioning as a clinical provider in the inpatient and/or ambulatory settings approximately 25% of the time. * Being responsible for understanding and adhering to the Aurora Health Care Code of Excellence and for ensuring personal actions, and the actions of employees supervised, comply with the policies, regulations and laws that affect Aurora's business.
