Fitch Ratings, a leading, global rating agency seeks a Director-level Credit Analyst in the Latin American Sovereign Department in New York.

Role
A Director takes prime responsibility for maintaining a portfolio of sovereign ratings. This requires establishing a working relationship with key government and central bank officials, organizing and leading annual rating visits, preparing supporting research and presentations to the Sovereign Rating Committee and communicating the rating decision to market participants directly and through the media as well as internally to other rating Groups. In addition, a Director is expected to be the 2nd Analyst for additional sovereign credits providing backup and support to the lead analyst. The Director will also be responsible for producing topical comments and will speak publicly on Latin American sovereigns to both internal and external audiences. Directors are also expected to make a substantive contribution to the deliberations of rating committees and to the development of analytical and rating criteria. Minimum supervision is provided at Director level and so must be contentious and willing to take the initiative to ensure that sovereign rating research, reviews, and actions are timely.

Requirements include:
- Demonstrate solid understanding of macroeconomics, international finance and political economy
- Proven ability to write clear, analytical credit reports
- Strong quantitative skills
- Exemplary speaking and presentation skills
- 5 years' experience in country risk
- Master's degree in economics or a closely-related field preferred.
- Written and spoken Spanish language skills are essential for the position.
- Proficiency in MS software
- Extensive travel required.
