Director, Materials Management Job in Lexington 02421, Massachusetts US
Primary Role:
The Director of Materials Management will oversee and manage all raw material processes to ensure smooth continuous drug substance plant operations. This includes warehouse operations, materials planning, procurement, vendor management, supply strategy, risk mitigation, to name some. The materials flows activities must also be managed in alignment with both the overall Sales Order Process (SOP) and the individual plant Site Leadership Teams (SLT). This position will have overall responsibility for raw materials inventory value budget including also operational capital expenses, in addition to raw material cost of goods sold (COGS).
Responsibilities:
25% Develop clear compelling vision for the Materials Organization that aligns with the Site Leadership Model and the technical operations guiding principals as related to continuous supply risk mitigation
30% Implement a team based approach to execute operationally towards vision and to ensure daily operations are maintained planned smartly
25% Build process efficiency alignment to increase overall effectiveness of materials supply to build longer term capability to handle more volume complexity
20% Support input into the SAP project to ensure alignment of user requirements, understanding of changes, and to be a leader in supporting this systems evolution to ensure dramatically improved business process capability efficiency
Education and Experience Requirements:
Strong life science background experience with materials management planning
Technical degree or equivalent experience required
MBA preferred
APICS/CPIM - Preferred
10+ years in materials management or supply chain, or comparable experience
Regulatory and compliance background strongly preferred

- Communicate and negotiate with Shire HGT interests in mind.

Complexity and Problem Solving:
The role requires significant problem solving and decision seeking/making. The individual will be required to translate multiple demands across several products and geographies into a comprehensive plan that will satisfy HGTs objectives. The position also requires the ability to manage upcoming and long range product supply conflicts and resource allocation against competing product and programs.
The role will require ability to rapidly understand technical issues multi-option scenarios to build effective plans to mitigate risk ensure continuity of supply/plant operations

Internal Contacts:
- Works with Global Supply Chain team, Internal Operations Leadership Team, Site Leadership teams
- Interacts with multiple technical operations functions regulatory
- Routinely interfaces with all areas of management
External Contacts:
- Interfaces with external partners (suppliers, logistics coordinators, vendors, etc)
- Develops relationships at various levels with external partners
