The Director of Data and Business Intelligence is responsible for ensuring that all of The Boston Company's data supports the strategic direction and intent of the business. The Director provides strategy, direction and subject matter expertise for information management and is a key partner to senior business and IT leadership. The role is also responsible for the teams that plan, design, implement, and manage data resources and establishes standards, guidelines and best practices for the company to ensure that data is effectively managed.

The incumbent will be responsible for:

As a core member of the IS leadership team, identify and deliver solutions that enable the business to be more productive and profitable with the use of data. Work through all levels of the TBCAM organization to promote the data strategy and add value in execution through delivery of timely quality data. Develop a Business Intelligence (BI) practice within TBCAM longer term and focus on various information delivery models, self-service, portal etc. Develop the strategy and implementation plan for evolving TBCAM s Data Warehouse and Business Intelligence environment.

Deliver high quality data by implementing best practice data quality and validation strategies; including the development of master data management and data governance programs. Ability to drive performance collaboration with vendors, partners, and consultants. Develop strong relationships with key business leaders by understanding their business objectives and translating business requirements into technical solutions.

Liaise with vendors and service providers to identify and select the products or services that best support TBCAM s information strategies. Act as a leader and mentor of data and integration development and management, including coaching, training, and career development for team. Own and evolve the enterprise information (data integration) architecture strategy for TBCAM. Partner with business and technology stakeholders to facilitate data governance and link IT data management practices to achieve business value.

Define and evolve enterprise data and integration architecture and best practices in areas that include, but are not limited to, standards, principles, processes and methodologies, infrastructure, applications, quality, rationalization, data modeling, etc. Create high level conceptual models that communicate in business language. Collaborate across business and technology organizations, providing sound analysis and recommendations. Establish service level management, aligning the data resources with business expectations for performance, availability, data quality and relevance.

Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Business Administration, Engineering or related discipline with information technology focus. An MBA is highly desired. 10 or more years of experience in data and information management including data architecture and modeling, database design and administration, data warehousing and business intelligence and master data management. Previous experience of progressively responsible management positions in complex organizations and industries.

Demonstrated success with high visibility projects, change management, budget and business case development and staff development is a must. Demonstrated success in leading DW/Bi projects and end user support is necessary. Understanding of data management practices such as data integration, master data, metadata management, data quality management, security/privacy, and data modeling. Experience in all phases of system development lifecycle (SDLS) and information lifecycle. Knowledge of emerging technology trends and practices in business intelligence and data warehouse fields. Strong communication and interpersonal skills are a must.

Qualifications

It is preferred that the Director of Data and Business Intelligence has 3+ years experience within the financial services industry and experience with security master data management in additional to experience with conceptual, logical and physical data modeling. Exposure to Eagle PACE software and multiple ETL and bi tools. Hands on experience with more than on relational database product, e.g. MS SQAL Server. Experience conducting vendor evaluation and negotiations in addition to experience in strategic planning processes, especially in translating business needs to IT solutions is preferred.
