JOB DESCRIPTION
JOB TITLE: DIRECTOR OF FINANCIAL PLANNING ANALYSIS
DEPARTMENT: Finance
PAY TYPE: Exempt GRADE: E-11
EFFECTIVE DATE: 8/2/10
JOB SUMMARY: Compiles, analyzes, and coordinates the budgeting and financial planning functions. Provides analysis and interpretation of results along with the preparation of financial and operating reports to provide a basis of management planning, operating controls and performance appraisal.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
· Coordinates, compiles and reviews the finalized consolidated corporate budget, inclusive of restaurants, commissary and overhead departments.
· Develops methods and procedures employed in budgeting process and with budgetary policy. Initiates and researches pertinent economic data relative to micro and macro economic trends.
· Develops and coordinates departmental budgetary reports to be employed in corporate re-forecasts. Prepares accrual analysis for field bonus purposes.
· Assists various departments in preparation of annual budgets as well as analysis of lease/buy decision or other financial analysis required.
· Participates in the formulating of projected income, cash flow, capital appropriations and balance sheet forecasts to be utilized in reporting requirements of banks and Board of Directors.
· Prepares variance analysis for actual versus budget monthly financial statements as appropriate.
· Prepares projected profit as needed. Estimates food cost, payroll, fixed and variable expenses based on interim monthly reporting. Overhead expenditures based on meeting with department Vice Presidents and Directors.
· Prepares financial analysis and special projects as directed by the Sr. V.P. of Finance / CFO.
· Participates in the forecasting of both long term and short term cash needs.
· Develops and maintains Cognos Planning applications.
· Develops and maintains Cognos Report Analysis Studio reports.
REQUIREMENTS:
· Knowledge of federal and state financial regulations.
· Knowledge of financial accounting, budgeting control, reporting principles, methods and techniques.
· Ability to communicate clearly and articulately with team members and clients / general public.
· Ability to interact professionally and appropriately with all team members and clients / general public.
· Strong leadership and management skills.
· Ability to handle and prioritize multiple tasks.
· Bachelor’s Degree in Finance
· MBA or CPA
· At least 10 years relevant financial experience.
· Skill in using a personal computer which includes knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, etc.
· Regular and reliable attendance and punctuality.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
· Ability to remain in a seated position for sustained periods of time.
· Ability to use hands for reaching, handling papers, picking up the telephone, typing on a computer, etc.
· Must be able to lift 20 pounds.
