This is a team-focused full time position working daily with a sales manager and an account manager. This position will work out of our Hudson, Ohio facility -- Ohio-based candidates only. Lexicomp does not provide relocation or telecommuting from an outside state.
Summary
As an employee of Lexicomp this position is responsible for promoting and selling all Lexicomp products and services to the entire spectrum of federal healthcare practitioners within, but not limited to, the following agencies: Department of Veterans Affairs, Department of Defense, US Public Health Service (FDA, CMS, CDC, IHS, NIH), Department of Homeland Security (Coast Guard), Federal Bureau of Prisons. The director of government accounts will conduct business through on-site and web meetings, trade show attendance, collaboration with Wolters Kluwer Health operating units, and frequent phone and email communication to prospects and clients.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Understanding the complex and dynamic nature of federal sales, including federal procurement activities and contract management.
- Close collaboration with colleagues to achieve individual and unit goals, including teamwork with the Lexicomp government internal and consultant teams.
- Sales goals will be accomplished through aggressive sales canvassing of federal marketplace practitioners including medical and dental staff, identifying federal market opportunities, and supporting procurement activities.
- Cold calling, web-based demonstrations, and onsite meetings to promote Lexicomp products
- Qualify leads and convert to sales opportunities, identify next actions and move opportunities to closure.
- Build lasting customer relationships through routine communications throughout the year to identify renewal concerns, training needs, price increases, and to promote additional products and services when applicable. This will also be accomplished through aggressive prospecting activities to all healthcare disciplines, both medical and dental.
- Implements and utilizes all sales processes, documentation methods, and tracking procedures, so that an accurate picture of the national federal account strategy, successes, opportunities, concerns, and key renewals are known and appropriately managed. Communication of all concerns and notable successes are provided in a responsive manner.
- Acts as a liaison between the marketplace and Product Development team by routinely providing quality and timely market feedback and documenting such feedback in NetSuite.
This position requires approximately 40% overnight travel across the U.S, and some International.
Qualifications:
- Four-year college degree, MBA preferred or equivalent work experience
- Experience working with the Department of Defense a plus
- Experience with General Services Administration (GSA) and other federal contract vehicles
- 5+ years proven success in federal sales
- Strong account management, time management and follow-up skills
- Strong technical skills, understanding of the referential and embedded drug information marketplace, and the complex nature of federal healthcare informatics go-forward plan
- Strong interpersonal, problem solving, negotiation, written and oral communication skills
- Proficient in Microsoft suite including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with CRM and web conferencing systems
