Summary:
The Director of IT is responsible for all aspects of information technology, including management of IT staff, planning and budgeting, and establishing guidelines, standards and procedures for IT operations. The Director of IT is charged with strategic planning, tactical action, and operational decision-making in support the company’s growth objectives. This person must possess a strong work ethic and be able to effectively multitask in a fast-paced environment. Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to easily and effectively interact with technical, non-technical, customers, staff and sales force is essential.
Duties Responsibilities:
- Provide day-to-day prioritization, delegation, and supervision of work assignments for IT staff and consultants in order to maintain and develop the company’s technology infrastructure and business applications
- Assess new computing technologies to determine potential value for the company
- Consult with senior management to determine project priorities and make recommendations for hardware and software acquisitions
- Responsible for preparation and management of the IT operating budget, including planning for short-term and long-term software and hardware needs
- Oversee the development and execution of an IT strategic plan in concert with the company’s overall objectives and strategic plan
- Take an active, hands on role in the enhancement of a recently installed ERP / CRM system
- Oversee implementation and management of system and network security
- Direct the design, development, implementation and maintenance of applications and databases
- Develop, review and monitor all back-up and disaster recovery plans and procedures
- Insure proper documentation and procedures are in place
- Advise and lead the company on future trends of technology
- Stay current with emerging information technologies
- Manage special projects and tasks as required
- Coordinate projects and priorities with executive management team
Education, Training, and Experience:
- BA/BS degree in Computer Science, MIS, Business Management or similar discipline
- 7-10 years’ experience in Information Technology with a diverse IT background, including software development, Windows Server infrastructure, networking, telecommunications, and business systems implementation.
- Minimum five years of relevant IT management experience.
- A strong record of success in managing the entire IT function within a small to medium sized manufacturing business.
- Familiarity with accounting functions and manufacturing processes.
- Experience implementing and maintaining ERP and CRM systems.
- Knowledge of requirements analysis, systems design, coding, testing, implementation, and support.
- Ability to set and manage priorities judiciously.
- Ability to present ideas in business-friendly and user-friendly language.
- Experience with Microsoft Windows server and desktop environments, including Microsoft Exchange, Active Directory, Microsoft Office and Oracle Database
