Director of Student Teaching and Field Experience Job in Akron 44325, Ohio US

The role of Director of Student Teaching and Field Experience at The University of Akron is an administrative position charged with leading and supervising all facets of student teaching and field experience for the College of Education. This includes, but is not limited to;communicating and collaborating with students, faculty, community and P-12 partners with the goal of providing clinical experiences for teacher candidates in the College of Education; taking initiative to develop new partnerships; staying current on best-practices in the area of clinical experiences for teacher education and implementing changes as necessary; adhering to policies and procedures as set by The University of Akron and State of Ohio; establishing policies and procedures to support the work of the office; adhering to and maintaining high standards based on national and state standards for accreditation; monitoring progress of teacher candidates; Providing professional development and supervision for University supervisors. 

 Requires a relevant Master's degree related to teacher education and supervision and a minimum of three years teaching experience. A valid/current educator license in the State of Ohio that permits student teaching supervision in al fields (ex: Principalship) is required. 
  
 Experience with pre-service and/or teacher supervision and knowledge of Ohio standards and accreditation is preferred. A candidate with demonstrated experience with collaboration in the p-12 setting and demonstrated experience with team building and development of partnerships is preferred.
