About the Position:
This position, working out of the Company’s Corporate Headquarters in White Plains, NY will have oversight of the Company’s procurement activity related to the wholesale distribution of grocery products to customers throughout the Northeast, as well as to effectively manage inventory control of product.
Responsibilities for this position will include but are not limited to:
· Directing the activities of all employees engaged in the purchase of wholesale products;
· Analyzing retail market and delivery conditions along with internal operational functions to determine present and future product availability;
· Determining optimum purchase opportunities related to both price and volume;
· Managing all procurement and purchasing methodology in order to maximize effective inventory control and establish appropriate product turnover;
· Developing alternative methods of product acquisition and availability during periods of unusual market activity or circumstances and effectively manage residual inventories;
· Initiating and maintaining high level relationships with various manufacturing and supplier vendors and brokers;
· Approving the Company’s internal invoice verification processes.
The successful candidate will have a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a Business Management or related discipline and have at least ten or more years of experience in a senior procurement position within the grocery industry, as well as strong contract negotiation and vendor relationship skills, and a solid understanding of procurement systems. In addition, this individual will be adept at process analysis and strategy implementation, and exhibit a demonstrated effectiveness in successfully working across executive, administrative and operational departments.
