Director, Strategy & Business Development
Working closely with the Marketplaces executive leadership team and the central strategy and business development team of Thomson Reuters, this person will support the business with strategic growth planning, financial and operational analysis, and prioritization, evaluation and execution of strategic investments to grow the business, including organic development, acquisitions and other ventures.
MAJOR AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY
- Support and manage the strategy development approach for the Marketplaces business, working across functional areas to drive cohesive strategic view of the business; synthesize analysis to deliver key insights and recommendations around priority growth opportunities, business model evolution, and critical capital allocation decisions
- Lead strategy and cross functional teams to deliver strategic projects, including acquisition pipeline development and development of business opportunities
- Develop long-term vision around the likely evolution of our existing markets and competitive landscape; synthesize critical trends that will impact our business, create new frameworks for identifying risks and disruptive moves in the industry
- Acts as a thought leader and advisor to senior management and executives on key strategic issues, joins together with cross functional and cross business teams to develop and implement the strategic planning process
- Coach and mentor junior members of strategy team, developing their skills and toolset so that they can contribute at a high level in a lean, fast-moving team
- Work closely with team members responsible for market intelligence to evolve our critical market analysis including market maps, competitor tracking and benchmarking, industry analysis, etc.
Qualifications:
- Strong knowledge of capital markets and trading technology
- Excellent strategic process and strategy development skills with 8+ years experience with a top management consultancy, in a strategy role in a leading company or similar experience
- Excellent market analysis skills
- Well honed finance and analytical skills; an MBA is desirable
- Exceptional written, oral, and presentation communication abilities
- Ability to work under pressure
- Strong interpersonal skills; ability to work collaboratively and build trusted relationship across boundaries
- Ability to handle confidential information with discretion
- Strong leadership skills
