Director, Systems Development Job in Mississauga, Ontario Canada
Our client in the life sciences is seeking a Director, Systems Development on a permanent basis. Your work will support the strategic decision-making of the Chief Information Officer (CIO), and the Information Services Leadership Team. As a senior member of the team, you will bring your innovative thinking and your acumen for problem-solving and relationship management. You will play a pivotal role in the building of the new Information Services Division and support the integration of the newly-merged facility.
Through the development of a comprehensive Performance Management framework, based on ITIL Best Practices, you will measure, monitor and drive performance within your portfolio and across the Information Services Division. Working collaboratively with staff and leaders across all sites your job duties and responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
· Continuously improving systems performance, cost-effectiveness and reliability, following ITIL best practices, and appropriate systems development methodologies;
· Managing the lifecycle and second tier support of applications, in accordance with business needs and privacy/security requirements;
· Developing and implementing a quality assurance and release management framework for use across the Information and Technology portfolio;
· Developing an applications and systems integration roadmap and providing technical leadership in its implementation;
· Managing and evolving the corporate data model;
· Developing a work plan for achieving planned outcomes for this role (i.e. applications and systems integration roadmap, quality assurance and release management strategies, ITIL-based performance measures, staffing and budgetary plans);
· Reporting progress and recommendations monthly to the CIO and IS Leadership Team;
· Liaising with staff and leadership within Information Services
· Building consensus as to staffing structures, operations governance and performance goals necessary to the achievement of planned outcomes;
· Developing and managing key relationships internally and externally;
JOB SPECIFICATIONS:
· University degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related degree required
· Preference given to Master's level degree, complimented by significant exposure to systems development/applications in healthcare
· Certification in ITIL, or demonstrated knowledge of ITIL
· Certification or strong experience in systems development
· Familiarity with commonly used healthcare applications and technology (i.e. HL-7, DotNet, Microsoft Sharepoint, BizTalk Integration Engine, IBM WebSphere, Oracle/SQL, Meditech, Sunrise Clinical Manager, HeartLab, PACS/RIS, SIS)
· Demonstrated management in a complex environment with effective interpersonal and negotiations skills including outstanding written and verbal communications skills
· Familiarity with public-sector procurement and exposure to eHealth an asset
· Experience in managing and leading projects
· Demonstrated leadership skills with experience in building consensus at the strategic level, ability to initiate, build and foster effective relationships and results-oriented
· Experience with active participation in business and organizational change, development/transformation plans and initiatives.
