Summary:
TCAM UK is seeking an analytically strong individual with a solid finance background who is eager to play a key role in building the commercial mortgage lending area of TCAM UK. The right individual must have solid communications skills, negotiating acumen and a strong command of real estate financial analysis and an in-depth understanding of property operations, leasing and financial reporting to be successful. This individual will be involved in all facets of the European lending operations including having primary contact with borrowers regarding the broad spectrum of loan originations, loan underwriting loan closings, and day to day asset management of the portfolio. The position provides an opportunity to work in a high profile, dynamic and creative environment in an institution with a long history of commercial real estate investing.
Responsibilities:
- Work independently with borrowers, brokers and counsel to source lending opportunities and drive all aspects of a lending business from origination, underwriting, loan closing and ongoing surveillance/servicing.
- Present transactions or portfolio holdings for review and approval to appropriate oversight committees.
- Generate documentation including credit committee presentations, loan applications, commitments, mortgage loan documents and other associated documents.
- Actively lead the negotiation of transaction documentation for select transactions with limited supervision.
- Coordinate investment process with home office in Charlotte and New York and other functional areas within the Company.
- Monitor property performance, loan compliance, borrower requests, modifications and loan payoffs.
- Provide ongoing analysis and research, including updates to financial models to update, evaluate and reforecast investment performance.
- Act as a point of contact with TIAA-CREF business partners including portfolio managers, originators, accounting, valuation, appraisal, real estate equity, risk management and law.
- Handle external contacts with law firms, financial advisors, other creditors, loan servicers and borrowers.
- Assist in administrative and reporting matters for the team including the tracking of investments and management reporting.
Qualifications:
- Financial academic background with an MBA, as a preference.
- 7+ years of experience in commercial finance lending with broad exposure to origination, underwriting, loan closings and portfolio management.
- Ability to grow a lending business with limited oversight.
- Strong analytical skills including, cash flow modeling and underwriting, writing and presentation skills and effective negotiation skills.
- Working knowledge of Argus software is a plus.
- Knowledge of structured subordinate debt transactions is a plus.
- Possess a positive, self-motivated attitude and work well individually and as a team.
- Ability to balance multiple and diverse priorities while delivering quality product.
Willing to travel as needed to assist in property related and investment related analysis and decisions
