Description
The ABD IT Development Team at BNY Mellon handles troubleshooting, software fixes, and enhancements for two applications related to the financial services industry. First, the ClearSky application handles Blue Sky compliance services for approximately 85% of the mutual funds in the US. Second, AdReview is a Web based application that increases the efficiency of clients' regulatory compliance review process for advertising.
We are looking for a senior developer/designer who will handle technical design, development and implementation of solutions based on the needs of the business unit. This will include, but is not limited to: enhancements to system functionality, redesign of various components for performance improvements, software fixes for issues identified by users, designing/developing one-off solutions for client conversions and required special processing. This position also requires experience with vendor software upgrades from the planning stage to implementation. The candidate will be experienced in all aspects of distributed application design, development and support from infrastructure to coding to testing and implementation.
The job holder will have an opportunity to participate in a major redesign and development effort using cutting edge technologies.
Qualifications

Minimum 6 years experience in design/development of Windows applications.
*
Extensive experience with Java, J2EE, and VB6 programming and the use of RAD and MS Visual Studio IDE's.
*
Extensive experience with Oracle and MS SQL Server and corresponding database developer tools. (Experience with Advantage Database Server (ADS) is a significant plus).
*
Extensive experience with Structured Query Language (SQL) including DDL and DML.
*
Experience creating Active Server Pages (ASP) Web applications including knowledge of COM objects and IIS configuration.
*
Experience with JSP, Struts, and Taglibs.
*
Experience with Windows scripts and process automation using bat files and Task Scheduler.
Solid understanding of Windows Server 2008.
*
Solid understanding of Windows server infrastructure including web, application and data servers and NAS and SAN storage devices.
*
Familiar with Windows failover cluster configuration and functionality.
*
Familiar with Crystal Reports.
*
Familiar with Hibernate, Maven, XML, HTML, Harvest, Subversion.
*
Extensive experience with the MS Office desktop applications and MS Project.
Job holder must be able to deal effectively with individuals at all levels of the organization. S/he must have excellent oral and written communication skills. S/he must have the ability to document and present technical designs and solutions. S/he must be able to perform research to track down resolutions to technical issues. Ability and motivation to learn new technologies and processes quickly and thoroughly. S/he must be able to become a team player and mentor other developers in technologies where s/he has expertise. B.S. or B.A. or equivalent work experience required; advanced degree or certification beneficial
