Distributed Sys Engineer I

The Dist Sys Eng I: Provide ongoing support for IIS and .net software per our middleware standards. Coordinate the installation, upgrade, testing, and maintenance of these software components in multiple server and multiple network operating system environments spanning multiple computer sites and possibly overseas. Candidate would be accountable for ensuring that detailed work plans for both installation and continuing maintenance are followed and escalations when exceptions are found. The ability to manage your own schedule and as part of the team projects and goals is important. This position writes and coordinates standards as procedures as required for the Middleware group. This position is expected to have excellent technical writing skills and the ability to write standards and other technical reports for new environments and root cause analysis for existing environment issues as required. This position requires sharing management of PCI vulnerability findings until resolved. Ability to lead, train and mentor level 1 staff members is desirable. The ability to understand project management is also required for this position in the setting and reporting of deliverables. Ability to cross-train within team for any supporting role for the various supported environments. It would be highly desireable to also have J2EE/Linux experience as well. This includes knowledge of JBOSS, WebSphere, Tomcat, Apache/IHS Microsoft Windows support for IIS and .net framework Understanding of IIS configuration for web hosting support Ability to work with Project plans Strong Communication Skills/Team Player Provide 24x7 Oncall support on a rotational basis Follow Standards and Guidelines Requirements: - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or other related field or an equivalent combination of education and job-related work experience equal to 5 or more years. - 3+ years of enterprise-level server support experience including one of the following web technologies: IIS and .net. The list above may not be all inclusive due to product standards and vendor support changes. - 4+ years building and troubleshooting system/application/infrastructure experience - Proficient PC Skills (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Visio, SSH and other technical software) - Clear, concise and accurate written technical white paper(s) such as Technical Guidelines, operational procedures, manuals, and configuration documentation. - Respond to change in a positive manner and willingness to shift your work or schedule in response to the demands of the situation. This position will share a weekly, flexible, rotating on-call schedule. - Experience with the installation, configuration and support of IIS and .net in a Windows 2003 or above environment. Experience with SSL and certificates pertaining to website security. - Configures and monitors IIS and .net for adhering to corporate standards. Understands statistics on performance and is responsible for partnering with other teams to identify and resolve system performance problems. - Performs problem resolution for supported software as needed. Conducts research and testing to determine cause and makes necessary corrections. Recommends changes in IIS, .net or application to maintain or enhance performance and is pro-active in the area of problem resolution and prevention. - Experience with working with and resolving vulnerabilities is preferred. Ability to differentiate between accurate findings and false positives and providing evidence to support your position will be required.
