Divisional Financial Reporting Manager
This is an exciting opportunity to take on a challenging role which offers a broad spectrum of responsibilities, scope, and commercial activity. A primary objective is the provision of high quality financial reports. The person will be responsible for the financial accounting reporting, controls and reconciliations for the main Sugar legal entity (“Sugar Ltd”).
The role offers considerable scope to further enhance the reporting and control environment through process improvement and development of financial analysis, and provides excellent potential for career growth and opportunities within the organisation.
The role requires a high level of interaction with the rest of the Sugar team. This is a significant ’hands on’ role requiring flexibility to handle detailed transactional work as well as higher level analysis and review. The individual will be expected to have good attention to detail and a collaborative ‘can do’ attitude.
We need an individual with proven experience of operating within a fast paced trading environment with a proactive approach to transactional activities, financial reporting and control, continuous improvement and business performance initiatives.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Submission of monthly Sugar Ltd results to Group through Hyperion and completion of supplementary monthly, quarterly and year-end schedules
- Preparation of statutory accounts for Sugar Ltd under UK GAAP (soon to be IFRS)
- Management of year end audit process
- Ensure compliance with minimum control standards and risk requirements
- Ensure integrity and completeness of Sugar Ltd balance sheet
- Preparation and review of monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including key focus on stock, open contract, and trade debtor / creditor accounts
- Provide resource to ongoing initiatives with respect to processes
- Review of European VAT submissions
- Budgeting and forecasting
- Staff management and development of a small team including mentoring and performance management
PERSON SPECIFICATION
- Fully qualified Chartered Accountant (ideally ACA) with solid demonstrable experience of undertaking the tasks mentioned in the job description
- Minimum of five years post qualification experience; gained within a global trading environment is desirable
- Ability to challenge the status quo and seek continuous improvement to reporting and control processes
- Ability to analyse financial data and prepare financial reports, statements, and projections
- Ability to lead and motivate a team to produce quality materials within tight timeframes
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- A ‘hands on’ practical approach is required for this role
- The role requires a well organised and efficient individual who can manage competing deadlines with strict time constraints
- Flexible, proactive and willing to take on additional tasks as the department’s workload requires
