E-commerce Business Analyst

An E Commerce Business Analyst is needed for a leading business in Bournemouth for a 6 month contract.

About Role
Investigates operational requirements, problems and opportunities, seeking effective business solutions through improvements in automated and non-automated components of new or changed processes.

Assists in the analysis of stakeholder objectives and the underlying issues arising from investigations into business requirements and problems and identifies options for consideration.

Identifies potential benefits and available options for consideration. Works with clients/users in defining acceptance tests.

About You

• You must have; Proven track record as a Business Analyst with evidence of working on complex projects in a leading/guiding capacity.
• Demonstrable level of knowledge and experience of the application of BA technical methods to complex projects; working towards a suitable Qualification e.g. ISEB diploma.
• Good understanding of project methodology and life cycle, in more than one project environment.
• Good understanding and practical application of the BA and requirements lifecycles.
• Ability to assist and guide PM, provides feedback into process improvements.
• Good understanding of the key change delivery methodologies. Likely to have some practical application of Waterfall; Rapid Application Development (RAD) Agile.
• Reasonable understanding of the basic principles of strategic change delivery. Typically this will include an awareness of strategic business goals and drivers; the role and purpose of operating models; capabilities and the inter-relationships between people, organisation, service, process, data, information technology and external environment for a given business domain.

The Details

You will need to; Work with the operational business units to define requirements covering the functional, non-functional and data requirements for business and/or system changes. This will include some or all of the following depending upon the nature, size and composition of the project / initiatives:

Business Analysis
• Takes responsibility for investigative work to determine business requirements and specify effective 'to be' business processes, through improvements in information systems, information management, practices, procedures and organisation change.
• Provides active input to the analysis of stakeholder objectives and the underlying issues arising from investigations into business requirements and problems.
• Applies and monitors the use of required modelling and analysis tools, methods and standards, giving special consideration to business perspectives.
• Provides impact assessments for the approach options in order to assist with the selection process.
• Produces own and may support junior BA’s to produce approach plan including deliverables and deadlines.

Requirements Definition Management
• Provides ongoing active input to the development of the standards and tools for the practice.
• Facilitates scoping and business priority setting for large or complex changes, engaging senior stakeholders as required.
• Selects the most appropriate means of representing business requirements in the context of a specific change initiative.
• Drives the requirements elicitation process where necessary, identifying what stakeholder input is required.
• Obtains formal agreement from a large and diverse range of potentially senior stakeholders and recipients to the scope and requirements, plus the establishment of a base-line on which delivery of a solution can commence.
• Takes responsibility for the investigation and application of changes to programme scope.
• Identifies the impact on business requirements of external impacts affecting a programme or project.

Business Modelling
• Uses techniques to map complex new business processes spanning multiple business units or changes to existing processes
• Uses techniques to map complex business processes or changes to existing process with usability in mind.
• Conducts advanced modelling activities for significant change programmes and across multiple business functions.
• Has an in-depth knowledge of organisation-standard techniques.
• Plans own modelling activities, selecting appropriate techniques and the correct level of detail for meeting assigned objectives.
• May contribute to discussions about the choice of the modelling approach to be used.
• Obtains input from and communicates modelling results to senior managers for agreement.

Business Analysis Skills - Other
• Facilitates collaboration and workshops between stakeholders who share common objectives across complex subject areas.
• Appreciates the wider field of information systems, and how own role relates to other roles
• Conducts investigations for strategy studies, business requirements, business case, and feasibility studies
• May define or provide active input into metrics to measure business benefits and communicates them accordingly.
