Macquarie Securities Group (MSG) is a global institutional securities house with strong Asia-Pacific foundations covering sales, research, ECM, execution and derivatives and delta one activities. The group uses its research and risk management skills to develop equity-based solutions and services for clients internationally.
The Equity Research team is looking for a Junior Economist.
Reporting to the Chief Economist, you will assist the Economics team with a diverse range of responsibilities which will include, but not be limited to, responding to client requests, writing research reports and marketing those reports to the institutional client base, managing a database, preparing charts and spreadsheets, as well as providing general support to the Chief economist. You will grow your knowledge base of financial markets generally and in particular, use your expertise to, over time, build your status as a leading Economist. You will be required to engage and interact with a variety of business stakeholders and colleagues, demonstrating a confident and outgoing work approach.
The successful candidate will have:
- A strong academic background, preferably in Economics
- Have a first previous experience in an economics role, in either the private or public sector
- Excellent numeric, written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
- Attention to details and the ability to grasp new concepts quickly
- Enjoy interacting at all levels and in time be confident to present to stakeholders
- The ability to work unsupervised and be self-motivated
- Flexibility with working hours
- Experience in the use of Microsoft Excel / PowerPoint Word
