We are currently recruiting for an Editor to join our European Equity Research division. You will be based in Canary Wharf and assume the following responsibilities:
Edit, approve and publish a range of different research reports (for both the institutional and wealth-management markets) according to strict Regulatory and Style guidelines, managing and prioritizing workflow to meet tight deadlines, while ensuring high standards of consistency, clarity and attention to detail. Where appropriate you will be encouraged to add value, re-structuring or re-wording text originated by native and non-native English speaking analysts, modifying headlines, and in some reports adding subheadings and margin notes, always with a view to maximizing clarity of investment message. You will also be responsible for all elements of production and distribution via the department's internal publishing system.
- As assigned, perform other editorial tasks (such as helping conceive one-off, sector or special reports, or re-publishing material originating from other offices)
- Where required (and time permitting) provide support to the equity analysts for things like excel model support, initiation of new coverage, re-packaging existing material, etc.
- Provide cover and support for the Operations Support role during absence, performing database maintenance tasks or those related to client data feeds and background publishing issues.
- The person in this position must have strong technical skills and the ability to analyse/ resolve problems quickly in a time-critical publishing environment
- The role requires the ability to develop an understanding of all sectors covered by SP's equity analysts and to sustain a broad understanding of the financial markets, basic macroeconomics and current affairs in general.
Skills
Required:
- Bachelors' degree, preferably in English, Journalism, or Business.
- Significant editing and/or writing experience for a business or financial publication or related environment
- CF-30 or similar Regulatory qualification preferred (will be required)
- Proven ability to work in a detail/consistency-oriented, deadline environment
- Good time management skills with the ability to prioritize workflow
- Strong oral and written communications skills
- Proven ability to work within and contribute to a cross-discipline team
- Experience working on Web or electronic products preferred
- Must certainly be highly PC literate with technical proficiency of standard software
