Editor in Chief Job in London, London UK

Our client is a VC-backed start-up based in London that is building an online community for parents aiming to raise healthier, smarter children in the digital age. Their goal is to develop a new breed of parents, ready to tackle the challenges opportunities posed by our increasingly connected children. They are looking for an Editor in Chief to lead their content strategy.

The successful candidate will be a journalist and have experience around children (i.e parent, aunt, uncle etc) with in-depth knowledge and a great passion for digital trends. You will have a personal understanding of how technology is affecting and improving the lives of our children. You have experience leading an online publication in an editorial capacity through different growth stages; you have experience writing and editing features; but it is your ability to set the content strategy build/manage a team of writers/journalists (initially freelancers) that distinguishes you from the crowd. You have an intimate knowledge of social media and good contacts within the blogging community.

You are an entrepreneur, a high energy lateral thinker, with strong managerial and editorial experience, and the desire to build a better future for our children by reaching those that matter the most - parents.

This is an early-stage, high-impact, executive position with commensurate responsibilities and compensation. You will be expected to:

-         Lead the editorial process by managing content creation, contribution and tone

-         Recruit and manage a team of freelancers, industry experts bloggers who will develop daily content for the site

-         Commission write editorial content and daily consumer communications

-         Build maintain relationships with industry experts and contributing bloggers

-         Give creative input to help market the product

 

Qualifications

-         3 years’ team management experience in an editorial environment, preferably for an online publication

-         5 years’ experience as a journalist

-         Proven and demonstrable ability leading team of writers and freelancers through the editorial process.
