The Editor/Writer takes a lead role in the content development of a new online product for the hospital market. The candidate will work closely with members of the product team, potential clients, and HCPro’s subject matter experts.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, developing and managing content for e-newsletters, Web sites, and elearning. Pre-launch, the Editor/Writer will significantly contribute to the product development process by writing product feature stories as well as actively participating in product testing and user research. The Editor/Writer will be responsible for working with Key Business Leads (KBLs) to incorporate functionality/content from existing HCPro print products and databases. Post-launch, the Editor/Writer will write daily articles on practitioner credentialing, privileging, competency assessment, and hospital leadership news and regulations

Essential Functions
• Demonstrate market expertise for assigned segments, including the composition of the audience, the key workflows and needs of customers, and the driving forces that affect them (e.g., regulations, best practices).
• Translate product functionality into product feature stories based on market research
• Participate and contribute to product testing (application and market research)
• Exhibit strong presentation skills, including the ability to develop clear, concise reports on current projects in both written and oral form.
• Will lead the efforts in designing and maintaining the taxonomy (i.e., classification of large amounts of information) with guidance from Key Business Leads
• Will assist the Associate Editorial Director and other team members in the development and continual review of all content (in-house and external)
• Write, edit, and format copy according to strict standards of quality, style, and voice, with a particular focus on Web sites, e-newsletters, and blogs.
• Write new content and perform analysis of existing HCPro content, readying it for prepopulation into our database. Content includes, but is not limited to, expert analysis and education courses.
• Review, analyze, edit, and reformat content and related electronic newsletters and blogs from an existing HCPro product.
• Review, incorporate, and approve edits on all written work prior to publication/posting, including applicable group edits, peer edits, and copy edits.
• Upload relevant content to applicable Web properties through the content management system, and ensure content displays and functions correctly.
• Tag and cross-link articles to relevant topics and related documents.
• Adhere to strict deadlines for all assigned products.
• Work collaboratively with other editors in the peer editing process.
• Identify story ideas for assigned electronic publications based on the goals of that publication.
• Travel, as needed, to both company-sponsored events and industry events, and represent the company in a professional fashion, including cultivating sources, answering or fielding questions about products, conducting industry research, and identifying partnership and growth opportunities.

SKILLS ABILITIES

Qualified candidates possess excellent writing, editing, research, and communication skills; a demonstrated record of project management skills; technical acumen for working in various development and taxonomy software programs; and an independent work ethic. This position requires a Bachelor’s degree plus 2-5 years of experience, preferably in the healthcare publishing field.
