Summary Description

This position provides day-to-day leadership, vision, coordination, and expertise in support of online course and related educational media design and delivery – including the evaluation of technology enhanced courses, trainings, and instructional materials.  This person works closely with Extension faculty, units, an advisory workgroup, and internal development teams to evaluate needs, develop courses, materials, publications and programs in blended learning and online formats.  This position also works with external partners to develop funding and grant opportunities in support of eLearning and educational media needs and serve as Educational Publishing and Online Instructional Design representative in Texas AgriLife Extension Service leadership meetings and strategic planning sessions, providing team-focused departmental representation and advocacy among internal and external stakeholders.  The position will integrate the available technology infrastructure and evaluate new platforms and tools for creation and delivery of Extension online courses and media. 


Job Attributes (REQUIRED)

Bachelor’s degree in Instructional Design, Distance Education, Information Technology, or eLearning related field required.

Ability to collaborate with Internal Extension support (Organizational development, AgriLife Communications, AgriLife Information Technology, Extension Senior Administrators)

 

Ability to evaluate eLearning needs and provide leadership in developing, implementing and coordinating an agency strategic plan for online educational media efforts including the research and evaluation of commercial outsourcing options for online educational materials, course modules and/or complete courses.

 

Instructional design knowledge and ability to lead a course development team, aiding faculty in design, development and delivery.

 

Provide strategic leadership and input in developing curriculum that takes advantage of current educational publications and materials and strategy for future media development in congruence and in parallel with online education course development.

 

Proficient in latest online learning and teaching tools

 

Familiar with Learning Management systems and platforms and ability to evaluate current LMS platforms and offerings

 

Professional educational communications experience, including curriculum development, digital and online publications editing/production and a familiarity with educational video production.

 

PREFERRED

EDUCATION:    Masters degree is preferred. 


EXPERIENCE:

Experience with the Extension mission and/or ability to rapidly assimilate Extension organizational and strategic goals

Knowledge of theory and pedagogy of online education
Practical working awareness of infrastructure and technological needs for online education delivery
