Meggitt Sensing Systems (MSS) is the Meggitt division specializing in sensing and monitoring systems. We measure physical parameters in the extreme environments of aircraft, space vehicles, power generators, nuclear, oil and gas installations and test labs. MSS is seeking a key Electrical Engineer to join our San Juan Capistrano, CA location (Orange County). This is a high-profile, growth opportunity.
The Electrical Engineer will be a key member of the development team for the Aircraft Tire Pressure Monitoring System (ATPMS), a complex system being developed for use by commercial aircraft on landing gear systems. The Tire Pressure Monitoring (TPM) portion of the system, comprised of the sensor, package, cabling, housings, related subassemblies, signal conditioning electronics and associated software will be transitioned from the site in Switzerland to the site in San Juan Capistrano, CA.
The EE will be responsible for the transfer of the TPMS electronics to SJC and the design and construction of needed test equipment to support sensor and system testing and calibration. Will also provide support to operations during manufacturing ramp up.
Summary:
- Will learn the electronics for the complete ATPMS system and its supporting test and calibration systems
- Complete the development and integration of test and calibrations systems for the ATPMS system.
- Integrate, calibrate and evaluate prototype ATPMS units.
- Create needed documentation to support the release of the TPMS system into production.
- Provide internal/external customer satisfaction
- Contribute to the achievements of cost goals
- Provide on-time delivery to commitments
- Meet technical goals/performance requirements of assigned projects
Requirements:
- 2+ years work experience as an Electrical Engineer designing analog and digital circuits
- Experience in the use of CAD tools, preferably in Cadence / OrCAD PCB express circuit analysis with PSPICE
- Experience in design of data acquisition systems using embedded microprocessors or microcontrollers
- Background in using analog and digital test equipment (oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, debuggers, etc), for circuit troubleshooting and characterization
- BSEE or MSEE
- Ability to travel on occasion to MSS headquarters in Fribourg, Switzerland
- Excellent communication skills, proficient in written and verbal English.
Experience that is a plus:
- Experience working with aviation requirements for the certification of aircraft-based systems ( DO-160 DO-178 DO-254 ),
with an emphasis on practical knowledge of level sensors/aircraft sensors/FAA component certification and DO-160 - FPGA’s
- Sensor-based systems.
