A great opportunity for an accomplished investment professional has arisen to join our Group Capital Investments division in Sydney. Reporting to the Group Chief Investment Officer, you will be joining a dynamic, experienced, high performing and expanding team in a diverse and varied role where you will influence and drive changes to the Group's investment operations.
This role provides high level visibility as you will work with a range of internal and external stakeholders including the Finance, Risk and Legal teams within the various lines of business, Regulatory Affairs, the Asset Liability Committees (ALCOs), senior business leaders, external fund managers and custodians.
Your primary responsibility will be responsibility for governance and compliance and the implementation of the Group's investment strategies and arrangements by working with internal stakeholders as well as managers and custodians.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Establishing and reviewing investment related governance and control mechanisms across the Group including policies, frameworks and contingency arrangements
- Providing advice relating to the implementation of investment strategies and arrangements
- Implementing investment strategy changes by working with investment managers and custodians
- Managing the relationships with investment managers and custodians
- Establishing and reviewing agreements with investment managers, custodians and the Group Capital Investments division
- Monitoring the compliance of investment managers and custodians with agreements and ensuring any compliance breaches are addressed and reported
- Reviewing the business and investment operations of investment managers and custodians
Key characteristics will include:
- Excellent understanding of how investment processes work, including how institutional investors, investment managers, investment administrators and custodians typically interact
- Good understanding of investment mandates, governance frameworks , investment structures and the laws and regulations relevant to the investment operations of the Group
- Ability to think strategically in terms of process engineering and implementation
- Ability to probe and challenge investment service providers
- Good relationship management skills
- Good attention to detail
- Minimum of 7 years' experience within a risk, legal or investment compliance environment specifically within the Asset Management or Funds industry
- Highly self motivated but with the desire to work collaboratively and actively contribute within a specialist team to achieve targeted results
You will also possess tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, Investments, Economics, Law or other relevant disciplines. A CFA qualification is desired.
