A great opportunity for an accomplished investment professional has arisen to join our Group Capital Investments division in Sydney. Reporting to the Group's Chief Investment Officer, you will be joining a dynamic, experienced, high performing and expanding team in a diverse and varied role where you will influence and drive changes to the Group's investment strategy and arrangements.
This role provides high level visibility as you will work with a range of internal and external stakeholders including the Finance and Risk teams within the various lines of business, the Asset Liability Committees (ALCOs), senior business leaders and external fund managers and consultants.
Your primary responsibility will be to provide high quality investment advice and solutions for the Group. The advice and solutions will cover Strategic Asset Allocation (SAA), Dynamic Asset Allocation (DAA), investment philosophy, investment style, investment objectives and risk limits.
Key accountabilities will include:
- Providing investment advice to the LoBs based on quantitative and qualitative analysis and covering SAA, DAA, investment philosophy, investment style, investment objectives and risk limits
- Managing the relationship with the LoBs
- Ensuring there is alignment between the investment objectives of the Group and LoBs
- Ensuring the Group's overall asset allocation is appropriate
- Increasing the understanding of investment issues across the Group including the impact of investment markets on both the value of investment assets and liabilities for each LoB
- Increasing the awareness and acceptance of advanced investment strategy techniques e.g. liability hedging and portable alpha
Key characteristics will include:
- Demonstrated advanced problem solving and analytical ability with the communication and relationship management skills to challenge, influence and negotiate desired outcomes with senior stakeholders
- Demonstrated strong insight and understanding of investment strategies suitable for insurers, investment instruments, portfolio management, asset classes and investment management processes
- Strong grasp of the impact of investment markets on the value of an insurer's assets and liabilities
- Minimum of 7 years' experience in an institutional investment advisory/consulting role with a prominent financial consulting or asset management firm
- Highly self motivated but with the desire to work collaboratively and actively contribute within a specialist team to achieve targeted results
You will also possess tertiary qualifications in Actuarial, Finance, Investments, Economics or other relevant disciplines and will have a thorough understanding of investment markets and strategies. An actuarial and/or CFA qualification is desired.
