For our Design Center in Holland, MI (USA), part of the JCI Automotive Group, we are now looking for a person to join our team in the position of Senior Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Engineer.
Responsibilities
- Provide concept to production EMC support to simultaneous product development teams
- Ensure electronic product EMC compliance to automotive EMC standards
- Analyze conceptual product designs for EMC risks
- Perform EMC reviews of the mechanical, electrical schematic PCB layout designs and provide input to the designer
- Model and simulate product concepts using trend modeling approach CST EMC Tools
- Model and simulate detailed designs by adding detail to trend models as the product becomes more mature
- Analyze the schematic PCB layout using Mentor Graphics Hyperlynx CST SI/PI/EMC Tools
- Correlate simulation models to physical test measurements when prototypes become available
- Perform EMC pre-compliance testing and analyze the results according to internal JCI test methods
- Collaborate with Johnson Controls' EMC experts around the world
- Present EMC investigation reports to internal JCI program team and OEM customer audiences
- Present EMC training concepts internally to JCI engineering staff (ie. Hardware, PCB Mechanical design teams)
Qualifications
- BSEE + 3-4 yrs EMC experience or MSEE + 2-3 yrs EMC experience
- Education in Electrical Engineering, Physics or related field accepted
- Strong English communication skills (written and verbal)
- Previous experience with solving EMC issues by performing simulations, running tests, analyzing and reporting status
- Demonstrated analytical approach to preventing solving EMC problems
- Ability to successfully interact and initiate communication with people from other cultures (English may be 22nd language)
- Experience with EMC design of high speed/mixed signal automotive designs is preferred
- Good practical knowledge of CAD/CAE tools (preferably Mentor Graphics CST tools)
