EMEA Head of Legal & Compliance
The Role:
There are three principal functions of the role:
1. To provide Legal guidance advice to all business units and management in EMEA
2. To act as Company Secretary for the UK business and its subsidiaries
3. To ensure that the Bank operates effectively within local, regional and stringent group regulatory parameters, inclusive of all matters related to financial crime. Given the volume of regulation changes currently being imposed globally, Regulatory matters will form a significant portion of this role.
The Candidate:
The firm is looking for someone with significant banking experience and depth in each of the three key areas listed above. This is very much a hands-on role and the candidate will have only a small supporting team in both Legal Compliance. However, this is a highly visible role and will be critical in the continued development of the bank's operations in EMEA as well as participating in the global growth of the business.
Key Attributes:
- Qualified Lawyer
- A minimum of 10 years experience dealing with matters concerning banking and company law in the UK and preferably European operations.
- Significant experience leading all matters related to Compliance Regulation with deep understanding of regulation change issues such as MiFID, EMIR, Dodd Frank, FATCA etc.
- Outstanding leadership qualities with the ability to influence at all levels up to the Board
- Strong, decisive and thorough in managing the wide range of responsibilities inherent in the post.
- Excellent relationship building qualities that assist in driving the group business forward throughout EMEA.
- A strong strategist who is prepared to lead by example and engage the support of the breadth of the business on local, regional and group initiatives
