Energy Retail European COO / President
The target location for this role is London, although no final decision has been made and will be driven by the successful COO / President who will be instrumental in creating the strategy, direction and implementation of that plan, including the European HQ office.
Job Purpose
The COO / President will be responsible for all aspects of the set up and running of the European business and is responsible for providing strategic leadership for the company, through working with the Global CEO and Board of Directors (Board) and other management to establish long range goals and strategies, as well as the establishment and execution of plans and policies for the newly created European business.
Essential Functions
- Develop, establish and direct execution of operating policies to support the overall company policies and objectives of the European business
- Collaborate with the management team to develop and implement plans for the operational infrastructure of system, processes and personnel designed to accommodate the rapid growth objectives of the European business
- Direct company operations to meet budget and other financial goals
- Demonstrate successful execution of business strategies for the European company products and services
- Responsible for the measurement and effectiveness of all processes internal and external. Provides timely, accurate and complete reports on the operating condition of the European business
- Create annual operating plans that support the strategic direction set by the Board. Such plans shall include an annual operating budget, capital budget, market territory plans, sales and marketing plans and other such plans that may be required by the European business.
- Promotes a culture that reflects the organisation’s values, encourages strong performance and rewards productivity whilst maintaining high standards for accountability and ethical behavior
- Ensure company operations are compliant with all laws and regulations
- Ensures appropriate accounting procedures and controls in compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Required
- Strong knowledge of the deregulated Energy markets throughout Europe
- Experience in Retail Energy marketing with an emphasis on the mass markets
- The successful COO / President could come:
- Directly from a rival European Utility in a COO or related role
- OR industry regulator in a COO or related role
- OR management consultancy in a Director or Partner role
- Strong analytical problem solving skills
- Strong leadership skills, including experience leading executive management teams
- Experience in planning and organizing, establishing corporate culture and decision making
