Energy Sector Analyst-Basic Value Team recruitment
BlackRock's Basic Value, based in Princeton NJ, currently manages over $12 billion in assets across multiple products, The Basic Value Team utilizes a highly-disciplined, research-intensive and risk-informed bottom-up investment process that focuses on both sub-industry and company level fundamentals.
BlackRock is looking for an Investment Research Analyst who will be responsible for performing independent research and analysis as the basis for Energy sector investments for the Basic Value team. Other areas of coverage can, but do not have to, include Materials, Autos, Airlines, and utilities.
Responsibilities:
- Fundamental and industry analysis of the Energy sector including Exploration and Production, Oil Services, Refining, Coal, and everything else Energy related.
- Fundamental analysis includes study of a company's business, financial and competitive positioning (including balance sheet, income statement and cash flow statement analysis). Maintaining research on current holdings in these sectors and researching potential investments.
- Meet and assess with public company management teams. Attend analyst meetings and industry conferences.
- Build, refine and analyze financial models for companies under coverage.
- Proactively communicate investment ideas through discussions with the portfolio manager and team members.
Qualifications:
- The successful candidate will have a minimum of 5-7 years of experience with a proven track record in fundamental research in the energy sector.
- Responsible for buy and sell ideas as well as sector weightings and positioning within sector.
- Strong fundamental analysis, presentation and collaborating skills to be applied in a rigorous but collegial, team-oriented environment.
- Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated experience and/or capabilities in applying research in a fundamentally driven team.
- Detailed understanding of and proven experience in representing the energy sector and making noteworthy sector recommendations to investment portfolios.
- Demonstrated academic and professional record. MBA and/or CFA preferred.
- Enthusiastic, proactive, self-starter who is highly self-motivated and committed to adding value and delivering superior results to the organization.
- High level of intellectual curiosity and receptivity to fresh approaches to problem solving.
- Globally-minded individual that has an understanding of international economies, business climates, currencies and cultures.
- Ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects/tasks simultaneously
- Autonomous, entrepreneurial thinker.
- Capacity to thrive in a dynamic, constantly changing global market environment.
