Engineer Manager

Position Summary:

The Engineering Manager – Refrigeration, serves a key role in leading a team of engineers in designing and managing product development and product upgrades for refrigeration systems within the vending machine industry.  This position requires broad knowledge and experience in refrigeration system product development as well as conducting detailed refrigeration testing and meeting regulatory requirements. The role also requires tracking industry trends in industrial refrigeration markets including the latest developments in electronics and emerging refrigerant technologies.

Responsibilities:

·       Lead tollgate based product development programs and priorities within a team of engineers

·       Able to set best practices for the department in engineering techniques and procedures

·       Function as a technical resource to sub-ordinates.

·       Researches, develops and recommends application of new refrigeration technologies.

·       Develops and recommends changes/improvements that impact performance/energy consumption

·       Capable of design and development, selection and testing of refrigeration components, preparation of specifications, process study, research investigations, and report preparation with support/direction of a higher level engineer.

·       Provides support for new products through new system solutions.  Present and recommend alternative solutions by examining such criteria as make-versus-buy, reusing existing components versus new designs, cost versus benefits, reliability, scheduling, etc.

·       Maintains focus on continuous improvement through researching and sourcing innovative, cost-efficient business solutions and making recommendations to upper management.

Experience:

·         Minimum 8 (eight) years’ experience in progressively responsible positions in the field of specialty, three of which involve leading project development teams and setting priorities for others.

·         Extensive experience in designing refrigeration systems and components.

·         Proven experience in Product Development from concept to implementation.

·         Proven experience with energy reduction programs.

·         Experience with solid modeling CAD development tools preferred

·         Experience in LEAN environment, a plus.

·         Strong interpersonal communication, conflict management skills and presentation skills.

Education:

Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering. MBA is a big plus.
