ENGINEERING SUPERINTENDENT

 

The Oak Grove facility is a two unit solid fuel power plant located near Franklin, Texas. The Oak Grove facility consists of two PC units, with a cumulative net capacity of 1,600,000 KW and utilizes locally produced lignite coal as fuel source. This position is responsible for the overall management of the Engineering Department, which includes the Engineering, Reliability Centered Maintenance and the Document Control groups.

 

Key Roles Responsibilities - Other duties may be assigned.  Directly or through others, the incumbent will:

·         Ensure the work force capable of safely, reliably and efficiently providing technical and engineering support.

·         Provide the direction of engineering support functions through the direct supervision of Engineering Support personnel including Engineers, Engineering Technician, Reliability Supervisor and Reliability Technicians.   

·         Select, develop, evaluate and motivate a highly skilled and technical staff to ensure leadership continuity, technical excellence, and high productivity.

·         Provide support for the operations and maintenance departments consistent with plant goals and objectives.  Measure equipment performance, make engineering studies and recommendations, evaluate maintenance practices and operating procedures, and communicate between departments.

·         Provide technical support of Reliability Optimization Initiatives by reviewing equipment maintenance strategies and GADS data, conducting RCA’s, and reviewing and modifying equipment PM’s in order to support plant objectives.

·         Continue to strengthen the condition based maintenance program to optimize the utilization of maintenance resources.  Utilize appropriate technologies to assess equipment conditions (i.e. vibration, thermography, oil analysis and electrical testing) to avoid catastrophic or functional failures.

·         Take ownership in the development, control, and monitoring of the Engineering and Reliability OM and Capital budgets to meet financial goals and ensure available funds are utilized in the most productive manner.

·         Monitor and track all plant lead capital budget projects and OM special projects in order to control project costs.   Utilize IPMS programs and reports, monthly budget status reports, and the plant Engineering Support Request (ESR) system.

·         Monitor vendors, consultants, and contractors through direct reports and personal oversight, to ensure that products and services provided to the Engineering and Reliability teams meet the requirements set forth by all applicable specifications.

·         Contribute to the company objectives by preparing and presenting reports at various technical meetings/seminars and serving on various technical, operational, and maintenance committees.

Minimal background and knowledge requirements:

·         Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering and six (6) years power generation or equivalent experience

 

Preferred background and knowledge requirements:

·         Coal fired generation experience

·         Good understanding of company policies and procedures, union contract, power plant operating procedures, and safe work practices and procedures.

·         Professional Engineering License in the State of Texas
