SUMMARY: Plan and assist in conducting experiments and field trials to support project efforts; develop innovative solutions to project problems and expand laboratory capabilities; optimize and improve laboratory equipment and procedures; ensure projects are completed on time and within budget; assume responsibility for quality improvements/initiatives; provide project leadership in the performance of tests to customer's specifications; use engineering practices to ensure test procedure compliance; plan, coordinate and control assigned projects; develop and report technical and financial details to clients and management; resolve a variety of engineering issues related to testing; maintain working relationships with clients in accomplishment of project objectives; communicate effectively with clients and staff; summarize test data and complete written reports; interact with laboratory and staff during project activity; interface with support groups in handling contractual, legal, accounting, fabrication and purchasing requirements; participate in proposal efforts and promotional presentations.
EDUCATION/EXPERIENCE: Requires a BS or MS degree in Applied Physics, Agricultural Engineering, Engineering Sciences, Physics, Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or Engineering Mechanics with at least a 3.0 GPA and 0-3 years of related experience. Requires applied experience in mechanical systems analysis and experimental setup; must have knowledge of mechanics, dynamics, thermodynamics, controls and associated analysis tools; must be able to interact well with clients, collaborators, and co-workers; must have an interest to learn and work in new areas of study; prefer experience with LabVIEW, MATLAB, ANSYS, and SolidWorks. Some travel required.
