English-Mandarin Reporter recruitment
The site will be a pioneer in its field, and we’re looking for a reporter with the pioneering, proactive spirit to match. London-based, you will generate and deliver a mix of daily stories, profiles and features for both the Chinese and non-Chinese professional community Europe-wide. For the most successful, there will be considerable opportunities for growth, promotion and increased responsibility as the business develops.
Your mission, should you wish to accept it:
• To research, source and write – in English and Mandarin - a mix of daily and regular content, stories and commentary of relevance to the target audience, personally uploading content to the site.
• To generate interaction with the community on the site, constantly seeking new topics, ideas and content to develop their on-going engagement and to create a vibrant community site.
• To develop and deliver against a forward editorial plan and schedule for the site, planning new products and features to engage the community.
• To identify and engage with community associations, companies and individuals of relevance to the site, attending and reviewing events of interest to the users of the site, and conducting interviews with high-profile professionals.
Your preferred background:
• Degree educated – preferably with a degree in journalism.
• Bilingual English and Mandarin – must be able to write fluent, nuanced English, as the majority of the site will initially be produced in English.
• Some journalistic / reporting background experience.
• High degree of diplomacy and professionalism for approaching and interviewing high-profile figures.
• Experience with website management and production tools eg blogs, CMS, Photoshop.
• Familiarity and enjoyment with social networking sites such as Twitter, weibo etc.
• Ability to operate effectively under pressure, maintaining high quality against tight deadlines.
• Connections to sources of relevance to the target community a plus.
• A relentlessly entrepreneurial, proactive and hands-on approach.
