Key Accountabilities

• Responsible for enterprise backup and monitoring of the current Windows Linux estate including associated hardware, (Data Domains associated software)

• Monitor the enterprise environment managing performance and capacity highlighting any issues

• Responsible for the day to day installation, configuration, management and monitoring of the server infrastructure, and the installation, configuration and maintenance of physical Microsoft clusters (Windows Server 2003 2008), Linux and VMWare (ESXi 4x, 5.x) based virtual servers physical.

• Management and monitoring of the multi-forest active directory and physical hardware support, especially HP hardware DL/ BL and C7000 blade enclosures and blades.

Main responsibilities

• Responsible for the management, monitoring, maintenance and provisioning of the following services:

- Linux, Windows Server 2008 and Windows Server 2008 R2 build, configuration and troubleshooting skills.

- Net backup  6.5 onwards and VEEAM 6 onwards

- Solar winds, HP SIM and Microsoft Systems Centre

- VMware ESXi 4.x, Citrix, Messaging

- Experience of HP hardware, in particular C7000 blade enclosures and BL series blades. Also HP Flex 10 Ethernet controllers.

• At the direction of the Enterprise Manager, engage with the other teams in the IT Department to ensure that the IT Department’s policies and procedures are implemented, in particular those procedures relating to:

- Disaster Recovery

- Operational Acceptance Testing

- Change Control

• Engage with Quality Assurance and Design Authority to plan and coordinate the application of any upgrades you need to make with the release timetable and target enterprise solution strategy managed by those teams.

• At the direction of the Enterprise Manager, engage with Development and IPM to understand any requirements for new hardware that is needed to meet the business’s future requirements. Discuss these requirements and agree the actions that will need to be taken with your manager. Implement those actions and be ready and able to implement and /or accept this new hardware within the timescales agreed with IPM and Development.

• For any incidents that arise perform root cause analysis to identify any enterprise solutions that if implemented would resolve the issue and its root causes. Engage with Design Authority in order that these requirements may feed into the target enterprise solution strategy.

• Draft and maintain documentation and local working instructions that detail the processes and procedures that are implemented to manage, monitor, maintain and provision the services within the portfolio outlined for this role.

• Keep abreast of industry technological developments and identify opportunities to implement new or improved enterprise solutions to provide a more efficient and effective service to the business. Discuss any potential advancement or any recommendations for new designs and technologies with your line manager so that these can be passed to Design Authority and incorporated within the IT Strategy if required.

• Windows Server 2003 and 2008 (R2) clustering.

• VMWARE ESXi (4.x, 5.x) configuration and monitoring.

• Active directory configuration and management in a multi-forest design.

• Exchange 2007/10 desirable.

• Physical hardware configuration and support, especially HP C7000 blade enclosures and BL blades including OA configuration, Netflex10 and HBA installation.

• Networking basics essential.

Business Knowledge

The following business knowledge is desirable:

• Experience in trading and risk management systems for commodities

• Knowledge of the full trade life-cycle

• An understanding of physical and financial commodities trading
