Enterprise Environment Management Architect

Position Details
SUMMARY

This position reports directly to the Manager of Enterprise Environment Management and will serve as one of the interfaces for the Enterprise Environment Management team and all of its external customers. This individual will work with Application Development, QA Testing, Engineering, Architecture, Release Management, and Operations to gather all requirements necessary to provide an integrated end to end QA environment that will be used to successfully test quarterly releases across the Enterprise.

RESPONSIBILITIES

1. Review system architectural designs for lab and production and be able to identify gaps within the lab environment.

2. Collaborate with all stakeholders to gather application and system requirements in order to build an end to end integrated QA environment.

3. Plans, develops and maintains processes, procedures, designs, and documentation for the integrated test environment.

4. Coordinates across various entities of the enterprise, gathering application and system requirements as well as tools policies and procedures needed in building and supporting of QA environments.

5. Provides services to project teams regarding provisioning and supporting of test beds.

6. Helps project teams to define the complete build and test environments based on the requirements and conceptual designs.

7. Responsible for resolving project issues risks that arise.

8. Coordinates and executes early lifecycle planning of Environment Management infrastructure and tasks.

9. Manage and report on project status and Environment Management metrics.

10. Serve as the primary point of interface for gathering tools, applications, and environmental requirements and constraints

11. Train, develop, and enforce Environment Management standards / processes

12. Responsible for complex projects having significant scope/impact to the business.

13. Create and provide a template documenting detailed environment requirements.

14. Validate all completed change requests to verify that the change was completed as requested i.e. software versions, app id privileges etc.

15. Create and manage environment configurations: URLs, app ids, app id passwords, OS-level id, passwords, ports etc.

16. Create a task list for every environment creation. This plan must include all the tasks and responsible parties; identify all dependencies i.e. infrastructure dependencies, application support dependencies, Network dependencies, code deployment, vendor dependencies or other; estimate the timeline for the completion of each task

17. Track and manage the environment creation plan and communicate the overall timeline and target completion dates to the stakeholders as needed. Also identify, communicate and escalate any risks or issues to the appropriate parties.

18. After new environments are created, smoke test the environment to validate setup was correct and environment is accessible.

19. Work with the Project teams to determine the required security groups and the appropriate access level for each group.

20. Receive downtime requests from infrastructure or app support teams, determine the environments that will be impacted, and work with designated environment owners to obtain approval.

QUALIFICATIONS

1. Requires BS/BA in related discipline (i.e., Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, etc.) and 5-8 years of experience in related field OR MS/MA and 3-5 years of experience in related field. Will consider additional related industry experience in lieu of degree.

2. Must have a minimum of 8+ years experience in a similar technical contributor position utilizing advanced troubleshooting, installation and configuration methods in large cable or computer networked systems in order to acquire expertise and suitable interpersonal and analytical skills.

3. Experience in environment builds, integration, and configuration aligned with the following technologies: DOCSIS, VOIP, SS7, Networking, Transport, and Video services.

4. Must have experience in environment design, planning, and Integration for DOCSIS, voice, VOIP, Networking, or Video.

5. Experience in system administration on various vendor platforms: Cisco or Motorola CMTS, Broadsoft, Nortel CS2K, Nortel DMS, Juniper Firewalls, Juniper Switches L2 or L3, Cisco 7609, Acision, Movius, and Arris MTAs.

6. Must have Microsoft Windows, Sun, and IP UNIX / Linux experience.

7. Proficient knowledge of Windows Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Visio, etc.) required.

8. Up to 20% travel
